Messi Still MLS’s Highest-Paid Player at $25M — Full 2026 Salary List Revealed
Lionel Messi continues to top MLS salary charts, earning a $25 million base salary — more than double that of second-place Son Heung-min, according to the MLS Players Association. The figure reflects Messi’s contract extension with Inter Miami signed last October, locking him in through 2028, with total guaranteed compensation reaching $28.3 million.
Son, who joined Los Angeles FC last summer in a reported record $26 million transfer, earns a $10.36 million base salary and $11.2 million in guaranteed compensation. Rounding out the top five are Inter Miami’s Rodrigo De Paul ($9.7M), San Diego FC’s Hirving “Chucky” Lozano ($9.3M), and Atlanta United’s Miguel Almiron ($7.9M).
Messi’s earnings exclude endorsement income and his reported equity stake in the Beckham co-owned franchise. The 38-year-old has scored 59 goals in 64 regular-season MLS games and won back-to-back MVP awards. League-wide, total compensation hit $631 million, with average guaranteed pay rising 8.9% to $688,816.
